Forced Entertainment is a unique and highly influential theatre production company based in Sheffield. Established in 1984 by Tim Etchells they have a formidable reputation for performing stimulating and thought provoking work in the UK and internationally. Their creative work explores the process of making theatre and the definition of the art of theatre performance, often pushing boundaries and in the process producing highly acclaimed work. 

Objectives

Create a website that in some way reflected the stimulating and experimental nature of the creative process. Over 85% of Forced entertainment's audience are theatre students so it was important for the website to be an easily accessible and valuable educational resource whilst communicating the uniqueness of their approach. A key requirement was to enable the website to enhance their commercial activities and deliver tangible return on investment.

Our Solution

Our approach was to create a website that reflected process of creating a website. The texture and look of the site appears as if it is a work in progress that develops over time. The Mind Unit Content Management System was fully integrated into the site to ensure that it was as flexible as possible, allowing members of the Forced Entertainment team to upload videos, images and educational resources as required.

The website features a powerful sales tool  which included a shop which not only allows visitors to purchase the DVDs, publications and other resources produced by Forced. The sales tool enables highly targeted e-marketing based on customer buying trends and behaviour which provides a more relevant, personalised and easy to use online shopping experience for the customer resulting in a higher level of sales.
